They will fit up to 99/00 (end of GC/GF).

If you buy a decent half cut, you change the dash, guages, door cards (and looms) from the cut and all the main looms etc fits anyway. Only differences are the position and type of fuse box under the dash and the shape of the dash near the doors. You use the cut dash and all heater/ air con and get climate control etc....why would you want cable controls.

If you can do a lot of the work yourself you save big bucks.

Not exactly.
Facelift dash (98 on) will not bolt to the early shell. The dash mounting tabs attached to the firewall are closer together. These need to cut off and re-welded in the correct location (easier said than done) Also the hole in the firewall for the steering column is too small for the 1998 column to fit through. Late model steering column must be used with late model loom.
In short, stick with a 1996 or earlier 1/2 cut, much easier.

my 04 GX is under construction currently. I bought JDM 03wrx half cut. I think that's the way to go rather than buying bits separately. I'm getting my trusted mechanic to do the conversion.

I suggest if you dont know much mechanical, bring someone who does upon inspection. My mistake was I did not see the half cut carefully as it was on top shelf. When I boght it, I was told it was tested and guarantee running. When delivered, My mechanic told me it was front damaged and there is no way it was tested.

So far my mechanic told me radiator and a gear need replacement. Hopefully that's all.

Hope this will helps

Yeah, you're right Doug, was thinking more a few shortcuts ... you can make anything fit if you really try ... it's not a direct a fit, but it can be done.
