Why do you want to 'upgrade' to the 2.5L?

Essentially we get them as the excess USA stock. JDM still uses the 2L engines which proves (in my opinion) they are still the bees knees.

Already having a EJ207 means you can smash in some serious boost which you can't do on the EJ257's.

Just be aware that the MY03 V8 JDM STI EJ207 engine onwards changed from forged pistons in previous years to Hypereutetic pistons as well. The JDM MY03 engine runs tighter piston to bore clearances due to less piston thermal expansion and a higher redline as a result of less piston weight.
This would be the same engine the JDM MY08 EJ207 Twin Scroll STI has.

All Aus STI EJ207's from MY02-MY05 have the same short block as the JDM MY02 STI model. ie forged pistons that will tolerate detonation far better than the Hypereutetic ones. Heads are different comparing Aus to JDM.

Stick with your forged piston Aus 02 STI EJ207. It one tuff bastard of an engine.

20 psi is only 1.3-1.4bar.

With a good tune and supporting mods up to 2 bar is easily achievable these days.
