Default Intercoolers CHEAP/BETTER/BEST?

Hi Guys
Have a cheap chinese spec tmic on my 06 rex..(td05/20g-verso-hitech tbe). I am thinking about trying to extract a bit more power out of it...it pulled 201ktw at asg dyno but I would like to get a bit more out of it as I think it can do better and feel that its the tmic holding it back. I can see the silicon pipe under the tmic is sucked in a bit and restricted so I need to sort this out as no doubt that restriction impacts upon flow! (hopefully not dangerous to the car??)

I don't want to chop the car in to pieces to fit a FMIC and the process west fmic seems a bit pricey for me $1500 plus maybe $500 to install?) Whats another good fmic for the 06 with out having to chop the car up ??
Process west do a nice tmic for $850.
Has anyone changed TMIC's and seen any gains on the dyno simply by swapping from bad to good?
Or is this just pissing money away with very little gain to be expected? ie bad tmic to good tmic? Maybe just put on some decent silicon hoses to make sure the flow is as good as it can be

cheers n beers

Go FMIC, or get an STi Top Mount. That is all.

The PW TMIC is good and if you add water spray, you wont need a FMIC.

With everything theres Good , average and shit quality stuff. You just have to weigh up the reasons for spending the extra cash. Honestly i went Hybrid. Its geniune (And so they all say), but alas i had ASG install it for me so i am unsure as to how much excact fucking around had to be done.

Again like all other threads, do you want a FMIC or TMIC. Both have pros and con, search and you'll find everything. From the physics behind air molecular flow to crap coming out sumones anus, its all there.

The only piece i can see and have heard about being chopped from front bars with minimal customisation is that a little bit under the front bar needs to be trimmed. You cant even tell unless you literally get under the car and look up at the block. A rough estimation from other threads i thinks about 200kw atw is what a TMIC is good for.

Flame on etc

ditch the aftermarket tmic and go for a spec-c tmic (the one with the dimple in the top tank), theres been no documented or demonstrated gains from any of the aftermarket contenders (especially process west) all the process west tmic represents is a poor flowing block of aluminium which acts as a heat soak, rather then an efficent heat exchanger.

Bar and plate are poo, tube and fin for the win! Go for STi TMIC - little lag, works great, looks stock, no cutting - happy days
