Default boost seems to cut out ?¿?¿?

Hey all

Done a search and not much was found, but im running stock 99gc8 with bosch fuel pump and seems when im in 3rd,4th or 5th gear taking car over 3+rpm the car struggles with boost, like boost hits full, then car eases up, then boost comes back, then goes and back ect, all the while gaining speed slowly when boost isnt in full swing and nicely when it is.

Just curious if anyone knows what could be causing this as im not fully car aware as of yet.

Thanks Brett

what mods you got?

sometimes a TBE can cause boost spikes when combined with cold nights. Boost goes too high and the ECU cuts fuel to protect the engine.

Its normal occurrence.

A Good electronic boost controller can get rid of boost spikes.

I had an issue where it would boost full for once in the mornings and then it would flop back to around 8psi or something, turned out to be an issue with boost control.

Bought a cheap EBC and its fixed now.

I had a MY99 & it would die at about 4,500rpm, turned out some peanut had added an extra olive to the boost line, ripped it out & it was fine after that, might be worth a look..........funnily enough it works great in my STI haha.

Check all lines to & from boost controller for buildup of oil, especially the one with th small brass sleeve (olive) in it.

Steve,
The car doesn't have a boost controller. Starting to think its in need of one though! the car does have a full 3'' tbe...but untuned (stock ecu) though it shouldn't cause any drama's!

Whnen i had my my99 had a problem with boost just stopping at 8psi, when it was looked at part of the problem was it was missing that olive from the line. boost lines had been changed before, must of happened then.

Car is booked in for a sevice next week so will have talk to mechanic, but just want to get it fixed.

Thanks for the input guys, aprreciate it.
