well i'll get this checked upon my 100 000 service. I went to subaru today and asked about it.. they said clutch (wtf?) but my clutch is burnted to shits though with all the dodgy launches i do. anyhow he said maybe one of the sensors are fucked giving the ECU dodgy or false readings making it bog out... I asked if it was a boost cut from waistegate as such, he said i would have had to be at high RPM for it to do that.. so having said that, he said maybe ECU freaked out over weather conditions, seing as it was extreamly windy.
He said if the engine warning light stays on.. take it to them (or i would say some other workshop since they overcharge my ass) to get it checked. Im thinking since im due for 100 000 k i might as well do that on the way Thanks for all the replies people, appreciated Last edited by Silent; 11-12-2007 at 02:30 AM. |

When you get boost cut, the CEL will light up for sure. Turn car off/on three times and it clears the CEL.

Come on dude your car is designed to go 200+ km/h ( I don't recomend this on public roads by the way. Not any more anyway ) do you think a few 50 or 60 km/h gusts are going to scramble the ecu.
It is almost certainly boost cut ( I had similar issues after the fitment of a 3 in exhaust ) The only way you will know for certain is to get the fault codes downloaded. Even if the CEL has gone away the ecu should keep a record of the code. If it isn't boost cut the code will tell you exactly what threw the CEL. No point guessing when a laptop will tell you in 2 minutes.

SILENT - this post will actually save you money
For starters - any workshop Subaru Specialist workshop around town will charge LESS than Subaru. They are feeding you absolute crap - as your a Subi newb. Chances are ASG or a similar workshop will not even charge you to diagnose the problem. Subaru are full of shit. Ring Jim Hall at Blue Star. He is a Mobile Subaru Specialist Technician. Lots of members have used him - and he charges less because he has less overheads. You do not have to take your WRX to Subaru for a 100 000km service. Be prepared to re-mortgage your house the prices they will charge you, and they will bill you for a lot of shit that in all likelihood does not even need changing. You may as well write them a blank check. Getting the idea yet!!!! Jim at 0411 900 796, I used him for my 100 000km service as well. J

Jim Hall worked at subaru for something like 300 years* before starting his own business, so he genuinely knows what he is talking about.
(* ok so maybe not 300 but a lot. like longer than kristian90 has been alive)
