Default Lightened flywheel?

hey guys.
well after some troubles last week on the dyno it has shown that my clutch is slipping.
now i am looking at gettin a new organic clutch however i am also looking at doin the flywheel at the same time. so i am just wondering...
1) what people are runnin a lightened flywheel
2) the brand
3) and also weather or not it is worth it..
4) are there any driveability issues i have to worry bout etc?

Cheers
Adam

Im pretty sure this question has come up a few times in the last week or 2.

Yes there are a few people running them so do the flywheel whilst doing the clutch. Yes it is worth it, usually brands like exedy are good and no, its not like a HD clutch where it makes you looks like an L plater trying to park.

Its a flywheel and from the heresay of the carworld aparently it helps acceleration (have to verify that) as it takes less to spin due to it being lighter (hence lightened flywheel)

In addition to ^^^^ having a lightened flywheel reduces the rotating mass of the engine, allowing it to rev up AND down quicker. So you should notice the revs climbing and dropping quicker. Whether you feel inceased acceleration in the seat or not is a different story. You should notice increased engine braking though. It's one of those things you wouldn't do just for the hell of it. Having your clutch out for a change over definitly gives you the oppourtunity to do both at once. I'd say go for it.

Probably knock off a few hundred (maybe more) for a GC8, but when I looked at these parts for an 02 STi 6 speed, top shelf Exedy clutch/flywheel about $1200 each. Install, a few hours labour. And if it hasn't got one already get a short shifter fitted too. Happy times

so you would be looking at somewhere between 2200 and 2800 for a new clutch and flywheel installed?

cheers for the info guys.. however i dont thinks its that much
think from memory the guys at ASG said they get and organic clutch for round $450 plus labour.. then i think you can get a JUN flywheel for round $500 and well if you gota do the clutch anyways its not hard for them to change the flywheel at the same time..
so maybe bout $1500 all installed

Like I said that was top shelf stuff. Getting stuff that actually suits a street car in contrast to a race car is cheaper. PMH had that stuff for sale for an absolute bargain. It was either do that or get the Verso etc done. I chose Verso and stand by it. Pity it just made the clutch worse You could probably get it all done drive in/drive out for less than $1500

EDIT: There ya go didn't see above post
