Default Brake issue.

Guys/girls/others,

Just on two weeks ago, my car shat a wheel bearing and a outer cv on the driveshaft, causing the wheel to do its best in setting itself to about 100 degrees on camber.

When it got fixed the next day, the brake rotor was rubbing. It was figured that the rotor had twisted when the wheel went blah, and hence needed replacing.

Got new slotted rotors on the car two days ago, and the grinding is still there. It varies in intensity depending on speed, if I've just been braking, etc, etc.

The pads are around 5000km old, and are definitely not worn.

Is there issues with 4 pot calipers that I dont know of, or have I missed something simple?

Thanks.

I would take the pads out and have a good look in around the caliper making sure every thing is clean, no stones, bits of metal etc, check for anything stuck against backing plate....also clean up the pads (rub them on some 100 wet & dry) to remove and crap or glaze and also perhaps chamfer both edges of each pad. Clean the anti squeal plates too (if you're running them). Also check that the piston seals in the caliper are clean and that the pistons can be pushed in freely. Then re-assemble. Remember too that hot weather can affect pad movement.

Its been rubbing since the incident and never before, so the heat wouldnt be the issue Steve. Dont think its running the anti squeal gear. Rubbed pads with sandpaper before fitting them back up.

However, will take the rest under my belt when they get looked at.

Weird issue - Are you getting a brake pulsation when you are slowing down too?

Sounds like your pads are binding on the disc. Try a $50 set of new Ferodos to confirm that your pads are not warped or bent after your recent incident.

Couldnt possibly be the backing plate rubbing on the rotor?

Nope, not at all. Stops very well actually.

didn't bend the calliper or the mounting points when it skewed the wheel out of wack so much?
