It shouldn't be boost cut! I've got an MY99 with TBE and cold air intake and has never happened to me - coldest nights at 2am it just hammers along. From what i've heard boost cut is pretty damn violent, kinda like lifting off the throttle and slamming on the brakes for a second @ peak boost.

Sounds more like a fuel problem...

install a walbro fuel pump, get a unichip type 'a', get it installed and tuned properly by tim slako at west racing in ozzy park, piss farting around with boost controllers without checking your afr's and detonation will be just asking for trouble, spend $1100 now on a chip, chune & pump & you'll save yourself the cost of an engine rebuild down the track (say $5k)

just tell the missus that it needs a major service done FTW hahaha

Change your spark plugs if you haven't done so already, as this can cause symptoms of a "boost cut", when its actually your spark being blown out due to the plugs being worn, or not gapped correctly.

A unichip and tune will cost a bit more than $1100 but still good value. However, WestRacing have available a 4 year old used Unichip, complete with boost module, from a my99 at a price that is Very Good value.

mine cost me $350 for a secondhand unichip with boost module (electronic boost controller) $550 for install & tune by tim, my walbro was $220 from tenegah's

so yeah sorry, for about $1120

if you're a bit tight on funds just buy the unichip for now & sit on it until you got more cash saved then get the pump and tune when you can afford it, thats what i did

If I was him id be paying for a dyno run to check fuel pressures and AFR's .... or he could sit on it and wait for the possibly dyning pump to grenade a motor.
