i got a set of 4 pots for sale
straight bolt on
just need pads and rotors to suit
(check the for sale thread, under my username)

if you go brembos, you'll need rims to suit, ie to clear them
and the rear brembos won't be a straight fit without using an adapter collar or dogbone - unless you change out the entire driveline

i doubt there is much diff between my07 wrx brakes and my08 wrx brakes... surely... they couldn't have down-graded! Look at getting brembo's off an earlier model sti, say 02 upwards.. or maybe even Alcon's or ProjectMU's etc..
They havent downgraded performance wise. They do the job just as well. But yes, i do think they look a little pissy.

If you are gonna upgrade the brakes:

And you are on a budget: Get some 07- 4 Pots ..
Have some cash: Alcons/AP Racing

I was thinking about dropping some Brembo's on mine, but would prefer the above.

DBA 4000 series rotors + decent pads work a treat for me
Whole package (Front set of DBA 4000's rotors, 2 DS2500 ferodo pads and 2 bendix ultimate pads on the rears) set me back Little under 1k from MMS

I'm not sure if i will invest in DBA4000's again .. I have had mine on for a little while now and they are pulsating a little when braking, this seems to be common on these rotors.

Need to get the skimmed, but may just get a new pair of something different. Not sure if its the pads or the rotors of a combination but i was feeling fade after about 5 or 6 hard stops.

4000 Slotted?? and has is pulsating under braking? Skim them and try different (maybe softer) pads... odd for Slotted rotors to pulsate under braking. As for fade, try changing brake fluid or upgrade to higher boiling point fluid.

AP Racing bolt on kits, 330mm, two piece rotors. Awesome brake package.

Hey Muggz,

Changed the pads, running Hawk HPS pads, pulsation went away for a while, but once the pads bedded in, the pulsation returned.

From my research, i believe the pulsation originates from hotspots caused on the rotor, particularly the piece of the rotor which sits underneath the pad when the rotors are hot and the car is stationary.

I have never got them red hot and parked it straight up, so not sure how it's occurred .. I think overtime and them being a little bit warm and the car being parked may be enough to begin generating inconsistencies in the rotor, which is strange for a 'performance' type rotor.

I have heard of a few other people with this issue on these rotors.

I have changed the fluid several times also - And yes, they are DBA 4000 wiper slot. When i mean pulsation, i don't feel it in the pedal at all, i feel it in the car to the point where my dash is rattling a little bit too!

The pulsation only occurs during a certain speed range, say between 80kph and 65kph.

Nasty shit.

ive decided to shop around to see if i can get an aftermarket or second hand STI brake kit (if they fit behind standard rims) for a decent price. if i cant find anything within my budget ill pick up some OEM 4 pots second hand from pmh if he still has them.

i dont really have a budget its whatever is left after i pay the bills :P

the stock brakes are pretty spongy, i like a harder pedal feel. i cant remember what the 4 pots felt like on the MY00. better brake lines may fix that problem.

Can pretty safely say that STi Brembos wont fit behind the stock rims. Perfect excuse for new rims
