Default Few questions about EJ207 into MY98

Hi Guys,

I used the search function but sorry found nothing relating to the questions i need help with.

Now i have a My98 WRX and it now has 225,000klm on the clock and to be honest its going as good if not better than ever, no smoke out exaust and full power but i think its time to plan ahead for the day it finally goes bang.

I have just purchased a brand new EJ207 short motor ready for the transplant.

Im pretty new to all this as i came from the darkside (Nissan) lol.

Couple questions are....

Will my heads bolt to the EJ207 block?

Whats a good sized turbo to suit? VF34?

Is there much involved in the swap?

Sorry again if i missed a thread in the seach function

Heads will fit

Depends on what you want turbo wise - a decent all round street weapon would warrant a 34 - plenty of people on here sing their praises. Ive got a 30, which is the same but non ball bearing and I think its a great all rounder, so the improved response of the 34 would be mint.

What injectors, ecu etc you going to use Marc?

Thanks for that info Teejay,
I havnt really thought that far ahead yet, i just wanted to snap up the 207 while it was there cheap.

Im really not going to go for much power than i have now. My car the way it is has plenty of power so i was hoping just to keep the stock injectors and ecu. I was going to even use my standard turbo but at higher revs i can here it "clicking" like the blades clipping the sides so it looks like a turbo upgrade aswell.

If i do to much then i will need everything else to go with the mods then i will blow another box lol!

I just want relyable car that can take a little bit extra boost. If i have to step up injectors i will i spose but i dont want to get to carried away.

207 is damn near bullet proof on a good tune.

If your going to make full use of it. A set of 650cc injectors and a Power FC + 25psi will do wonders. Totally transform your car. vf34 is a great "streetable" turbo on a 2L.

*In replacement of wrxtacy*

Dont forget the Z32 AFM when going a PowerFC. They didnt make Djero for my99/00 so you cant get a mafless tune therefore a z32 i one of the best options in replacing the AFM. 98 AFMs arnt as bunky but still better to upgrade imo.

Sphoolin.

Not with 98 heads you cant.

So he has stock grey 370/380 injectors, side feed spec.

You could just put the bottom end in and leave everything else as it is for now Marc, not an issue, but you already have a 34 so make use of it.

Depends how much power you are happy with - I only make 245 and was more then happy with it - And I made it on stock injectors like yours. I do think you should go bigger though.

If you dont want to spend huge coin, track down some Sti 440's and find a second hand link ecu etc - injectors can be had for under 200 bucks and links are the cheapest option - not the greatest ecu but many cars here run very well with them so they do work.
