you can weld the flapper shut and weld on an external gate.

yeah all bolt on TD06's are internal gated.

non-bolt on TD06's, such as a Trust unit - you can find them turbine only.

IF u wanna run ext gate - ^^ what cheee said.

You can make any turbo external gate.
There's no performance gains to be had though really.
All purely for noise.

cheers yeh been reading a few threads, wasnt really keen on welding the internal gate in a brand new td06 20g, but if i want it that bad it will happen. Can u just put the external wastegate on the bottom of the up pipe (close to the headers) or does it have to be close to the turbo? if that makes any sense

Cheers

Yeh i know that, just saw a pic of the greddy kit and there is a custom uppipe and the gate sits next fairly close turbo i think? well thats what it looked like thats why i thought it might have to be up the top

the only reason i can think of why it would be mounted close to the turbo would be because of space. The pressure in the up-pipe would almost be the same anywhere along its length. If you happened to squeeze the wastegate at the bottom away from the turbo - it would work - but you might have -lag- in response time of the gate itself. - vacuum etc etc

either way ur dreaming.

It's only a tack weld on the internal gate and your actuator is disconnected - It's easily reversible. You can mount the gate anywhere on the up-pipe.

Be prepared to fork out at least $1600 for an external gate setup. With no performance gains to be had, I'd rather spend that on something else.

External gate = Instant cop bait.
