Default gearbox problem

hey everyone

last night i was driving from home from work and all of a sudden i found it super hard to change in to first and gear. it was like i didnt have my foot on the clutch.

i checked to see how much oil is in the gearbox and there is plenty of oil in it.

i have 1st and 2nd ppg straight cuts and i was wondering if maybe a couple of teeth are missing from the gears or the selector forks are gone??

any advice would be appriciated thanks

Tim

synchros?

when you do get it in gear is it making a knockig sound while driving, that would be chipped teeth.

Sounds like syncros..

ppg gear sets tend to chew through them..

It dose sound strange that all of sudden you cant change gears though.. normally you can feel them getting notchy till eventually your grinding gears...

could be selector fork?

Anyway sounds like a gearbox out job

Bit weird that it does all of a sudden fuck itself. Grinding is usually a indication of synchromeshs pooping themselves.

"If your car has a synchromesh gearbox it is recommended you do not double-de-clutch as this can cause undue wear on the synchro rings"

Is this true? :/

Im with jme, sounds like clutch related issue to me.
Had something similar happen to me. Fluid not making it to the clutch.
Had to smash it into gear.

I do it all the time. I cant see it wearing synchro's out though. Changing down gears without double de clutch though

Nah, not a worn out clutch, something wrong to stop the clutch disengaging fully.
