yes Andrew, that is correct. All taxes and import duty are calculated on the purchase cost of the product only. Unless the supplier includes the cost of shipping in the purchase price, you should be ok.

Don't know if he counts as a tyre shop but Westy's warehouse offer good prices. He's hooking me up with some nice black rings for my new DPTs soon :-)

Hello,

Thanks for the inquiry. Unfortunately we no longer ship Yokohama out of the US. Would there be another tire brand I can help you with?

Regards,

Rudy

Not sure on what you were trying to get, but have you tried looking at Demon Tweeks?

Edit: Wonder if you could use a freight forwarding service?

^Cheers.

Basically Rudy at Tirerack has told me it will cost $353 freight to get 4 tyres to Perth. So I will work with that.

I see a lot of people with 18x9.5 +38 rotas on MY11/12 WRX are going with 255x35x18 tyres, which is what I was initially looking at.

However 265x35x18 actually gives you the closest diameter to the stock wheel.

Anyone here running 265? Do you guys think 265 will fit under the guards ok?

265 is a lot of tyre for what is a reasonably small car @ stock hp. Allegedly they fit (plenty on NASIOC run them) and even up to 275! Downside is you'll probably lose a bit of steering feel. I'm running 245 S-drives and honestly thats a fair lump of tyre.

If you've seen my car, your rims will sit almost identically so if you lower it, be prepared to roll the guards which will distort them - the degree of distortion depends on how far you go with guard work.

Maybe just hold fire and look at mine and Kym's car at the cruise on Sunday - he is running 255/35 on 9.5" rims and I'm running 245/40 on 9" rims. At least you'll have a visual representation before you spend your hard earned.

Yep cool, Im in no hurry to order the tyres so will check your cars out on Sunday.

I'm happy with 255, which I agree is a decent width tyre for a smallish car - I just always thought it was better to try and match the stock wheel diameter for the sake of the speedo etc.
