Its called a "HEATSHIELD" for a reason.

It tries to keep HEAT shielded from the intercooler. One could argue that it also keeps heat in the turbo to help with spool and exhaust gas velocity...

Another thing worth doing is to secure the heatshield on the turbo up pipe so it doesn't work loose down the track

I wanna get my hands on a 3 inch TBE for my car. Running gear is pretty much stock ADM MY98. I know the bugeye and onwards can be verso'd, and the 99/00 cant. I have heard whispers that the earlier models are more friendly to mods, and will self learn/ compensate. Dont have alot of cash to throw at it at this stage so ecu swap is out for now. Will it cause any damage if I get a TBE on it or am I best to leave it as is? Getting a bit sick of how quite the thing is.
It'll be fine with yours, I've got a 3" TBE on that hatch that I don't really want so speak to me tonight when you drop the paperwork off.

Mettams in Morley are good for installs, quite a few memebers
have dealt with them and all including myself have had nothing
but praise for them.
