I pulled my steering column off, if you were sitting in the drivers seat, look to the left and you will see the back of the ignition barell, I got a multimeter, held it on each point (think there is 3) until when i turned the key on i got power from that point, then stripped the wire back and soldered my hardwire onto that. Then there is a little screw which holds the ignition barell in place, I undid that and screwed the negative earth into the screw. Bobs your uncle, got the radar one when the ignition is set to ON. Took me about 2 minutes plus time in routing the cable up the pillar and out thru the centre sun visor.

The cigarette lighter wires seem to be a stronger/more stable source of power. The RX65 has a function that displays the 12v signal, I found the cigarette lighter 12v wire gave the highest reading and least fluctuation.

ok cheers guys. Ill feed it up to the ignition barrel as i cant get to the back of the cigareet lighter very easily. There is some weird metal box behind it and I dont want to pull out the whole fricken dash and stereo. Ill get the guys to hook it up properly when I get my new deck installed.

thanks again

the thing i like about it being hooked up to the ingition barrel is that I have stuck the remote button for the RX65 under the column.

Not saying that it couldnt go somewhere better from the ciggy lighter but it is hidden but is still functional.

I used the ignition barrel for my Apexi gauges....the ignition barrel and the cigarette lighter are BOTH very reliable sources of power.
