Default loud exhaust

Hi all

I just fitted a 3inch Cat-back Stainless/Steel exhaust, looks mint but it's too loud and drony. on the freeway i can't stand the sound of it. should i get a high flow cat or a full exhaust from the turbo back( so it would'nt be to loud)

I'm new to this so thanks for any info

High flow cat or a full exhaust would make it even noiser wouldn't it?

Apparently X-Force headers keeps the boxer rumble down a little bit? The cheaper alternate is ear plugs

Is it a canon muffler or oval muffler?? makes a difference. I've got a full turbo back stainless system from RMS with an oval muffler and the sound is spot on - not too loud, no droning and a great deep boxer rumble.

i had a hks hi power turbo back exhaust fitted with no cat.. then fit in a high flow cat a few months after that, and i found out that the cat doesn't make any difference in the noise level.

Muffler tip diameter also makes a pretty significant difference to exhaust note. A 4" muffler tip is considerably louder and "dronier" than a 3" tip for instance. Having more resonators (hotdogs) will also reduce drone.

Alternatively just have a straight through straight pipe so that the noise just drowns out any drone

yeah agree with scoobysix.... i fitted a resonated 3 inch tip after having a 6 inch dump on my first wrx and passed the pits...that was the only change to get my yellow off

get a bigger subwoofer !

also might want to get it checked out at an exhaust shop, as the exhaust might be touching the body of the car, whcih will also cause it to get droney
