Default On its way out?

Problem: After a hard drive of the car, I was coming out of a roundabout in 2nd gear, when to change to 3rd...as i was swifting out the box felt really rough and doesnt want to shift out. So i came to a stop on the side of the road. Try to put it in first. It felt like it doesnt want to go in....try putting it in 2nd....same thing. 3rd and the rest feels fine. So i pumped the clutch a few times.....wait abit, then slotted in 1st.

Drove fine for the rest of the night. No rough/knuckely feeling...

Clutch: Factory - 8 years old and feels quite worn.
Box: Factory - 8 years old but feels quite intact.

Could it be the clutch not doing its job so i cant put it in gear or my box is gonna blow up any min?

maybe a small leak in the clutch hydraulics making it hard to slot into gear because the clutch doesn't fully disengage. Pump it a few times and it works fine until another air bubble develops in the clutch lines.

Should be replacing something to fix this problem or bleed the clutch lines?

if it is a leak, find out where it is leaking from along the clutch hydraulics first.

Check the master, slave cylinders and lines between them.

I've got this problem with my reverse gear. Usually just pump the clutch a few times and all is well

Common failure point is the rubber section of clutch line from the firewall to the slave cylinder (they usually start to weep from the fire wall end first (under the intercooler)).

Have had to replace it on all 4 of my subies. It's about $120 from subaru.

Reverse has always been like that in Subaru's....It's not a fault it's a trait.

yeah check the slave cylinder line, its only rubber standard and could be disintegrating from old age, i upgraded mine to a braided s/s one when i changed my clutch, failing this it could be your slave cylinder
