Im no expert on gc8's, but I would expect you will notice a little better throttle response, but unless it's tuned for it, maybe run a little bit rich and the top end might not be as good.
You have to understand, you might notice a slight difference for everything you do to your car, but ask a frequent passenger and hell say it feels the same..

GC's respond well to breathing mods and wont require a retune. HOwever to maximise the additional flow it would be the next logical step. The only options for you in this instance is to put in either an Autronics/motec pnp or Power FC. Or you could put in an electric carby like a Link as an option. Unsure if Vipec do pnp for the GC's as yet.

If it was a package of mods you were looking at doing, then i'd suggest an updated tmic and silicone intake pipe (keep the airbox they flow just as well and remain stealth).

From there a replacement turbo and fuel pump would round out the mods and your best bang for buck ratio.

So to give you an order:

Exhaust
Tmic (01/02 wrx or GD sti)
silicone intake (avo or similar)
ecu
turbo (VF series)
fuel pump (walbro or bosch intank)
re-tune ecu to suit

or do it all in one hit, all depends on budget.

They don't come cheap but are top quality...you want one with the wastegate venturi...probably around the $1800 mark. As a matter of interest, they are taking one off a GC8 today to put back to std for sale...maybe get them to ask the owner if he wants to sell.

Ahk, well i was planing to save about 2k for the exhaust sytem anyways, so it's the wastegate venturi dump pipe that is the better desinged dump pipe?

To this day i've not seen substantiated proof that one is better than the other.
