Default WRX Battery

Does it really matter what i throw in there? I am pretty sure the one i have at the moment is the intial battery which came with the car - 8 Years old - And it looks very small.

Any recommendations as to what should be in?

Also, how much is a new alternator or a reconditioned one?

Cheers

I think there was an optima dry-cell for sale on here somewhere. Personally, I'd go for something like that. During my build, I didn't start my car or charge my battery for 8months, and my dry cell was still good.

I've got an alternator off a 99 lying around rich, i think i paid $100 for it. $50 and it's yours.

It's working fine, I sent mine off to get reconditioned and the housing polished, and needed a replacement in the meantime. I presume 01/02 are the same as the 99 one, i mean, i bolted it to my 02 207... the only difrences may be in the bracket, but as far as i know they're identical. anyone confirm/deny?

Alternators are different. GC8 has a 2 pin square plug, GD onwards has a 3 pin oval plug. (Prior to 94 Subaru's had round plugs)

Rich, if it aint broke, dont fug with it.
Jappo car batteries are twice as good as the battery you will buy locally, something to do with actually putting lead in the Jap ones versus cardboard in the Aus ones.
Nothing wrong with the small battery unless you have increased the electrical load in the system. The big ones make the car harder to work on. If you must change it to a big one for whatever reason, seek out a genuine battery clamp, FFS don't fit one of those Supercheap plastic universal pieces of junk clamps.

I do have an ultima for sale, but I would also recommend not upgrading unless you have a thump thump stereo that makes your headlights give people siezures at night..
Unless you NEED one, there is no point in upgrading, that's why im selling my optima prime, ive got no reason to use it in my wrx.
