Default Help wet floor

Howdy

I need some help I have noticed that the front passanger floor has been wet. it seems to get worse when I have the aircon on. is there a pipe behind the glove box/dash that could have cracked and is leaking water ??? I have no idea how the aircon works so if someone could shed some light on what might be happening it would be great

car is a MY00 CG8 WRX

Thanks all

yea i would get on to that quick because the ecu is positioned right under the aircon :O

but yes i would have the car running and the aircon on and have a look in under the passenger side of the dash and see if there is dripping water or there is a condensation pipe leading out through the firewall, my guess its that
I have my car in bits at the moment if you need photos im glad to accommodate

yep as said, check the air con dran pipe. Also check your coolant level and see if it has dropped. It could be a stuffed heater core.

my my99 had a stuffed heater core a few months ago.

is the liquid a green colour ?

stick your fingers into the airvent (just to the right of the red circle on that pic) and see if its wet in there...

my money is on the aircond hose though..

Also to the left of the circle (behind the wiring hanging down), is the long thin cover for the slot in cabin HEPA filter that Subaru AUS never bothered to fit to our cars (and won't tell you about).

Subaru don't list them on the australian parts catalogue either, let alone stock them here.

A Porsche 986 Boxster cabin filter slots in perfectly, with the advantage that it's an activated carbon jobby, no more diesel exhaust fumes and no more red dust coming through your vents......... Around $80 from Chellingworth or Ktec.

Thanks heaps everyone for all your help
I will have a look when I get home tonight

I am not very mechanical so my question is how do I get to that pipe do I just take the glove box off and then I should be able to see it or will I need to remove more of the dash to be able to see it

if the pipe is cracked or busted how hard is it to replace and where would I be able to get the pipe from.

So, turn your aircond on and run it for a bit (say 10 mins)
then just feel with your hand to see if you can feel the leak on the pipe. (you should be able to reach under the glovebox)

then if its wet, pull the hose off from the aircond box, and then you should be able to pull the hose through the firewall, its only about 10cm long from memory.

then just replace it with a hose the same size....either buy a new one from Subaru, get one from a wrecker, or just tape the cuirrent one up with gaffa or electrical tape...

i would go the gaffa tape option myself

Steve.

yea you should be able to see the pipe without removing anything except you might need to peel back a bit of carpet which is a piece of piss

as for the hose its just a matter of taking off a hose clamp and pull

if you need a new pipe i would say just get a new one from subaru, if your gona do it you may as well do it all properly
