Yeah because "they're all the same".

I gave up guessing part numbers 15 years ago, it's a waste of time.

A bit like how in IT all os's / drivers & computers are the same hey rich? Jester?

Anywhoo if you want some info Pm me, if not STFU!

Yer i know .. Im just saying if i told you the:

- Year of the car (including the month it was built)
- The type of engine
- Chassis type

You'd think you'd be able to come up with a part i required.

If you told me you were running XP SP3, i wouldn't need to know the exact BuildID from MS you were running to install something for you.

You'd be happy to know i have recorded my VIN and have it on file for when i am /forced/ to call Subaru.

Guess they are just being thorough, all good.

Wrx, Rs,Rx, STI all share the same chassis, yet are different in detail (think front & rear bars, bonnet, boot lid etc).

Catalogue doesn't tell you details..... you need to tell it via the vin what impreza variant to look for.

This is a sample of the data output by the system:

Fax :
Model Name :G10
Body Model :GC8HKED
Vin-Code :JF1GC8KDGYG049773
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part Number Part Code Name Part Code Q'ty
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
22794AA010 METER COMPLETE-AIR FLOW

16546AA020 ELEMENT-AIR CLEANER

Note the model name above: you'd expect 'GC8' but Subaru call it a 'G10'

It's the proprietry FHI parts system and not for the public domain (my discs are registered and I'd be sued).

Images are VIN specific and are useless without the part number database inside the system (images only have part number prefixes).
Edit hosts file to block outgoing messages to the software designers server =D

Is this software avaliable to businesses in the automotive industry, if so how much does it cost?

From my dealings Subaru has been the most fussy when dealing with parts, its nearly as diffucult as getting a pin number for factory decks

Software setup is around $1000 per disk + $250 monthly on going

I picked up a copy of the Jdm Subaru fast2...... but it locks up all the time due to a license/ out of region issue..... Working on a way around it (it times out every 3 minutes and I can't save the parts lists or pictures out of it!).

I have a fully functional Australian version running a o.k... the Jap one is painfull (it's all in Japanese, just like the Nissan version for the silvia's & skylines).

I've tried the work around used for the European versions but no joy....YET!

Those who are complaining obviously have never worked in parts.
Anyway, the VIN is on your registration renewal. Doesn't anyone keep them these days?
