Cool, so whats the plan?
EJ257 with cosworth internals? What turbo? TD06-20g would go good on it and achieve your hP and torque goals..

Whats the plan for a tranny? 6 speed would be the deal, try to get the good diffs too, front and rear, and variable centre diff, what ECU will you run? do you want AVCS and the ecu it to control your centre diff? You may need to get the wheel sensors as well, if not a manually adjusted centre diff works fine too..

Do the 6 speeds fit in a GC8 without too much drama???

will be a fun project, what the plan suspension wise? Coilovers or some good sti dampers? I have just upgraded the sti dampers in my car, they work fine for everyday driving and I suspect would stand up to a trackday or 5..

Cool, well your on the right track, just remember if/when you change gearboxes, allow for different clutch/flywheel costs/labour as well.

I would suggest saving/waiting and doing it all at the same time and getting the best stuff you can afford. (ie 6 speed etc..) The other option is a stronger 5 speed which are still going to be definitely suitable for what your doing..Matt (jester) car is a good example, also, not sure if its sold yet but wrxrw's dogbox that was for sale...you really ahould look at buying it if you want to keep the 5 speed.
