When I go to regents to get a genuine oil filter they usually give me the crush washer for free.

Yeah just get it from the dealer.
When I used to do my own servicing and I was buying parts from the dealer, I used to get them to tape the washer to the lid of the oil filter box so I wouldn't lose it. |

Osborne Park subaru don't automatically supply the crush washer, when I've asked they supply it for free generally.

If you have a subaru sump plug washer already on your sump plug , you can use it again .Its a better option than using a copper washer which can split...

For a few dollars, buy a sump plug washer from a Subaru dealer - You can't go wrong. Buy 5 or 6 so there's a few spares on hand for future oil changes.
