Default Seat issue.

Hi guys,

Just starting to tick off bits and pieces that need doing.

My car had sti seats when I bought it, but wernt included in sale, so now thats its running they have come out.

Problem is during install/removal of the seats, the thread at the front bolt hole on the passanger seat has been ruined which means I cant get a bolt in there to fully secure the seat.

Ideas to resolve this?

Thanks.

go buy a tap set from a tool supplier and run that through it.. If its only cross threaded you should be able to clean it up..

If not you will need to get a helicoil kit and do that.

Not entirely sure how ruined it is, but it definitely wont take a bolt.

retap should work.. tap would prolly be 20 or so bucks.. then spray some crc in the hole and run the tap through.. going a turn forward then half a turn back adding some crc ever 3 or 4 turns until you are all the way through

+3 For tapping it. I had a similar problem with my underbody H brace. The bolt would go in but would not "catch" the thread inside what so ever so ended up tapping it.

You can get a whole Supercrap / Bunnings tap & die set for about $30.
For occasional use they're fine.

If that fails, find someone who has a Rivnut set.
