Default Flashing CEL

I know this is yet another CEL thread, but I've searched through most of them and they all talk about a constant CEL.

So today I had a few problems with my car struggling a bit under 3K, but after a good floor it ran well again. However, tonight I was driving around, and when idling the CEL flashes constantly. When driving again, it goes off, and won't come on again until stationary. Car is 99 WRX with PowerFC, VF turbo, tbe, IC, Z32 AFM. Anyone know why it would be constantly flashing?

Cheers, Alex

are any of the connectors joined under the steering column? by default they should all be disconnected. there is a green set and a black set. normally when they are hooked up, the CEL will flash intermittently like morse code

I'm not sure what these connectors you speak of are...

I might have a look at this later on, but as I haven't really had this problem before, nor have I been tinkerin' under the dash with plugs, I'm not sure this is the case. But cheers none the less

Unfortunately the PowerFC doesn't throw helpful error codes like the factory ECU.

But normally, flashing CEL either means detonation (flashing in 0.1 second intervals)or maxing injectors (flashing in 0.5 second intervals).

Seems unlikely that either would occur at idle. Do you have the FC Commander so you can check that all the sensors are working and reading within the correct ranges? It's in the etc > Sensor/SW Check menu.

I've got the commander but never really played with it too much. And it's flashing fairly quickly...

it'll be your afm......do you have a K&N filter?

pfc throws the light for 100% injector open, airflow meter over 5 volts (fucked or maxed out) and finally but most crucial knock reading > 60.

Nah, I used to run a K&N but since changed back to an airbox as I used to fuck up the afm all the time. I can't say I've had too many issues since putting in the z32, but perhaps it has shit itself. I usually take the buzzbox to RMS to get work done to it, would these guys be able to sort it out, or do I need to take it to a tuner?
