Default Car no starting - immobiliser?

I'm having some issues with the forrie at the moment
took for a drive this morning, all good and just an hr ago, i tried to start her up and she won't start
not the battery
seems to be the alarm/immoliser
no chirp, the alarm light that blinks on the dash, is now permanently on

i've checked the batteries on the keys for the alarm and they are good
to make sure, i've replaced with new and still car's not disarming/allowing me to start
i know i've got an autowatch alarm, not sure which one

i've asked the RAC to come help but i'm not sure if they'll be able to help

anyone know what else i can do if RAC can't help?

rac shoulld be able to disable it so you can drive it atleast. Time for a new alarm by the sounds of it. I recently had one that failed also.

You have two immobilisers in Non sti subaru's............

Is it the red key symbol on the dash cluster it's self that is staying on?

or the red led for the autowatch?

If it's the key symbol on the dash: It's is part of the factory transponder immobiliser that use the RF chip in the keyhead to deactivate it.

tried your spare key?

If it's the autowatch with a one button keypad you have an autowatch 446RLI, if it has 4 buttons you have a 446RLI-Premium.

Its not the factory red key symbol that's staying on, that's fine

Tried spare, changed new battery, everything, no luck
The Autowatch unit pretty much went into lock down mode
Tried the over ride (PIN), which wouldn't work either

I've got it sussed out now - took a while and help
Have isolated the Autowatch unit now and car is starting up, so its an immobiliser issue
I think the unit is shagged, no idea what caused the failure though, everything electrically have been fine with the car
But the unit is being sent back to Autowatch

Interesting day, I've learnt a bit about immobilisers

the reason the unit failed is ussualy the relays inside the unit get tired, and stop contacting correctly. and sometimes just get shit units last couple months (very rarely). if u want to have a little more confidence eather take it out completely or use a blue range (autowatch) immobilizer they are built with different relays which are tougher

Blue or red LED they all use the same pcb & relays....the higher priced ones come with more activated features that are optional on the cheaper ones.

Since I've removed the module, I can now see that I've got the 160 range, so not the higher end one

I've had it for more than 3 yrs now, and first time I had a problem with it
