Which would be one of my main concern (valves). I seriously putt around in my car day to day but will be tracking it more and more. Collie, if anything, has made me more determined to see future events more often. Matt, what would be a decent pair of cams that wont cause too much lift and still give good flow for $600? Am i looking at needing to spend more considering the ej's have 2 heads thus 4 cams?

EDIT: i been looking at cams and maybe im seeing $600 for 1 cam lol!

EDIT 2: Duration @ .50": Int: 228o / Exh: 228o would this be a good compromise? Brian Crower make these however they are forr USDM heads.

the stock sti head should be fine. i rev mine really high constantly (like always between 6.5 to 8k) and have never had any issues.

How do you find the cams within them? I mean, i can get version 6's cleaned decked ported for 1k to my door with brand new valves, valve springs and retainers. I figure, im getting a good sum of tax so i may aswel spend it on some cams aswel if the version 6's are not up to scratch.

Ask the person who will be tuning the car, no point getting something they are unfamiliar with and having to be a test pig and not getting the results you were after (take my quad AVCS for example...). I'm an ASG fanboi so i'll say Cosworth cams and valve springs, but obviously other workshops will have their prefered brand. Valves aren't necessary imo until you go a bigger turbo (garret, td0620g etc). Seans 10.2 was run at 500+hp with stock my98 valves. If you are looking to stick something factory on, put your year RA heads on, they normally ahve better cams than the same MY sti

Hey Matt, ive opted to just go with the 00 STi heads i am getting from NZ. Ported, decked, cleaned, new springs, retainers and valves (not sure if aftermarket or not). Unsure if the cams have been changed but if not, will proberly punch around with some ver 6 sti cams till i want to throw some 272 cossies in there with some solid buckets (if it doesnt cost me an arm and a leg). Costing me a bit over 1k to my door from NZ. Thanks for the feedback all, muchly appreciated.

they should do you well! probably just stock valves back in, but they should cetainly be better than your 150k+ old heads
