Default Screeching Brake Pads

Hey guys,

I am slightly concerned as I am having a serious issue with screeching brake pads when slowing down. Initially I thought it was due to worn out pads - but this was not the case. The rotors are very glossy (someone told me this was due to hard braking?).

What do you guys suggest i do?

Liberty with Brembos.

Cheers,
Annoyed by the sound!

temporary fix is to deglaze your rotors and pads with fine wet and dry sandpaper, could try some disc brake quite but this is unlikely to work due to anti squeel backing plates already fitted tot he pads.

best option is to turn up your radio.

Wifes Liberty STI and my car both do it - hers isnt driven hard.

not sure what pads and rotors subaru put on the car (just bought it last week from a subaru dealer).

I was just considering changing tp brand new pads and rotors.

But will give the sand paper option a go first...

what year Lib have you got? The oem pads and rotors to suit brembos on the MY07 Tuned by STI Lib I have were good for about 25,000 kms for me. Dont buy replacement rotors or pads from Subaru is my first advice as they are way over priced for what you get. I replaced mine with dixcel rotors and pads on the front and dixcel rotors and ACRE pads on the rear. Did the whole lot for $1400 including a $150 for installation. http://www.prospeedracing.com.au/pro...TI-Brembo.html

2007 Lib, i'll try belting the car and doing some hard braking first but if that doest work ill just fork out the $$ to replace the front pads and rotors. I'll give OEM a go.

Had DBA slotted rotors with green stuff pads on my 02 STi - squealed like crazy. I just can't ditch the sound - its following me!!!! ha

Go out and get them HOT like Stace said....It breaks the glaze & stops the squeel.
