07 STi Clutch
My 07 STi's clutch is stuffed to the point where i can be doing 100km/h down freeway in 6th gear, put my foot down to about half throttle and clutch slips and engine will just rev to redline, bad smell and black smoke flowing out of back of car.
Time for a new one i think, dont think i want a stock one again as 45k km to a dead clutch is piss poor ! So what can people suggest ? Cheers |

You can get the exedy OEM replacement. Pretty much the same clutch as the OEM is also made by Exedy. They are actually a pretty decent clutch and have good holding power and smooth uptake. You can also get the HD Exedy replacement with a higher rated pressure plate.
45K isnt all that bad out of the stock clutch. Have you been giving it lots of launches and such?

Mine's done 60K and had a fair bit of abuse ( in between a fair bit of sensible driving ) and is now holding back 235 kw atw.
Personally I think the stock ones are pretty dam good. Last time I spoke to race torque cos I'm sure it can't last much longer they suggested going another stock one as they were doing as well as anything else. How much do you ride the clutch??? Will kill anything pretty quick if you do.

45k out of a stock corolla driven by ma or pa kettle is disgusting. Hell we had a 89 Corolla do 150+K km on the original as a driving school car. But 45K out of a performance vehicle if you are a little unsympathetic to it is realistic.

Mine lasted 45,000km with 350 at the hubs for much of it. Started slipping under boost, so we replaced it with an Exedy Sports Tuff. The original clutch still had plenty of meat on it, just couldn't handle the power.
Depends how you drive it. I don't launch or flat shift and I'm not a clutch rider, so my clutches always last a long time. |

Exedy clutches always do a good job. Whatever you do, DON'T get a button clutch - they will wear out very quickly and be shit to drive with.
Tenagah have supply & fit specials til the end of Sep, will be booking my car in there in the next week or so http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/former-workshops-forum/28825-exedy-clutches.html |

I don't rate the Exedy clutches. I'm currently using a Sports Organic or Sport Tuff, not 100% sure which one but it's no where near as good as the OEM clutch which lasted 50+K and that's with a fair bit of weekend motorsport. Will be fitting another OEM STI plate soon.

Try Adelaide Clutch - sorry now call Australian Clutch Services. We are selling quite a few of their Xtreme range of clutches over the Exedy brand.
