I've got a whiteline 24mm adjustable sway bar for my '06 STi.
I can't seem to attach it to the chassis properly (end links are fine).

I've put the whiteline polyurethane bushes on, but the stock mount seems much too small to fit over and attach to the chassis.

Was I supposed to buy replacement mounts? It didn't come with any.

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm thinking of shaving down the bushings?

If you have the correct sway bar, it should come with the right bushings etc to fit with stock mounts.

Do you know the part number of the sway bar? It should be BSR37XZ

bolt to the chassis first, then your end links.

Yep... thats the part number I got. I don't get it, it should be a simple install.

Its got nothing to do with the end links. Its not tension in the bar that is making it hard. It literally won't fit... as in the bushings look too big and the U shaped clamp literally cannot fit over the bushings and attach to the chassis.

1 end is a bolt, and the other end is a tab that fits into a slot. Once I get the tab in the slot, there is no way I can compress the bushing hard enough to get the bolt into the hole.

I have a feeling I got the wrong bushes? Or am I just supposed to compress the shi*t out of those bushes? i.e. use a car jack to lift up the U-clamp until I can ge the bolt in? I think it would strip the bolt once I remove the jack.

i suspect the 'D' bushes supplied with your swaybar are to suit the heavy duty mounts and look like the ones in this pic



you really should upgrade your mounts to the ones in the above pic unless you ant to snap your stock ones*

*i'm speaking from experience on the gc8 setup, forgive me if the gd is different

You must have the wrong bushes for the bar mate, contact whoever you got them from

I popped into RMS and you're right, it was the wrong bushes.
Picked up the proper ones and I'm going to have another go now.

Don't worry about it Tim. I don't think I can get those bushes returned. In my excitement I started hacking into them to try and make them fit. Hehe =)
