would it just be the battery that is buggered? the light when you press it still flashs but doesnt do anything...

is this a common thing with aftermarket immobilisers?

Usually even after market immobilisers have a number on the back of a card that your given upon instalation of, if remote doesn't work follow instructions, usually is a trick of turn key on and count flashes of led for ex amount, turn key off, and so on until your ignition is able to be switched on. Far as just your remote, sometimes when the car battery is dead the immobaliser won't switch off properly, I had this on an earlier car of mine. Hope that helps.

the led light that lights up don't use a lot of power
easiest to to replace battery, and see if it will work

um no, it'll start squealing and you wont be able to turn it off.
Most of those little batteries are 12v.
I had one go flat in my old supra, i pulled the horn cover off and used the 12v supply from in there. ALA MacGuyver style. If you're home but you can just jimmy it off your battery if you got wire about.
