Default One for the gurus

hey guys,

i have been experiencing one of the worst problems. an intermittent electrical glitch.

it is a problem which is causing the car to shut down at random times, one night just before Xmas doing 70kph down Manning Rd the car just shut off for no apparent reason, it has now done it twice more in the space of a few days. The check engine light flashed up and split second later the car shut down, it turns out the code is related to the fuel control unit, apparently located above the rear drivers side wheel arch....has anyone heard of this before???

Any feedback appreciated as usual

Cheers,
_daz_

that's what i thought at first, but Leigh, Dave & the boys at RMS had never seen this error code before, they said they were expecting it to be something to do with the immobiliser, but they don't think it is after researching the error code....

the problem is they're not sure if replacing the fuel control unit is gonna solve the problem...which is an expensive part to not solve the problem...

do you know what the actual error code is? Just because the guys at RMS don't know what the code is, doesn't mean the code doesn't exist

MY00GC8:
Not sure bout the car rewire..how would i find this out???

jEstEr:
They didn't say the code doesn't exist, just they'd never come across a car experiencing this particular one before, not sure of the exact CEL code though, i'll try find out.

BALSTC:
it's an 04/05 WRX WRP10, STI ECU upgrade and stock fuel pump, only mods to car are suspension mods

i've had the car for 12 months now and had no problems whatsoever with it, and has done less than 50,000k's so wasn't expecting things to be going wrong with it just quite yet (=

Cheers guys

It could even be a prob with the transponder in your key, or transponder ecm.
Had an issue when i converted my car and the code was saying it was fuel circuit. Transponder works by cutting the fuel. My issue however was a cooked ecm so fuel pump would prime but that was it. It would allow about 6 seconds of running and that was it.
