Default going back to tmic?

currently have hks fmic (tube and fin) rated to 450ps (type S on their website anyway)

originally designed for the twin turbos but adapted to my single turbo conversion.

avo450 with a 2.35L blah blah etc.. making around 400hp crank

looking to revert back to the TMIC because

1) stealth
2) can fit airbox back

how much of a hit do you ppl think i will get by going back to a tmic? good tmic mind you...

is that wise with that sort of HP? (will be thinking of bigger turbo later on)

singsing, just a comment from me before anyone else mentions the size of your bonnet scoop on the B4.

I am running an 04 Hyperflow TMIC on my 1995 Legacy (same bonnet scoop) - no issues with cooling, the I/C is cold to touch after a drive. It only heats up once the car has been parked for a few minutes or its over 30degrees ambiant temperature and i've been at the lights more than 30seconds. cruise speed on the freeway sees inlet temperatures of ~15-17 degrees. Pushing it very hard (and i mean 'ard) it doesn't go more than 35-40, usually lower. So on that front i don't think there will be any major issues.

in regards to the HP, the rest of the set up and a TMIC - i'll leave that up to everyone else to comment on. good luck

PS. I am still yet to fit your B4 turbos I purchased from you, must be about a year ago now!!

well.. i did think about the size of the bonnet scoop but i didnt think that would be a major issue. thanks for your info adrian as that does help with me making a decision.

how did you get it all mounted properly? im assuming that the mounts for the hyperflow were for the rexie?

those turbos are little arent they very cute little turbos ... hahaha

any comments anyone else with TMICS and big turbos/high hp?

yes, the mount points were for the GD rexie. so custom brackets(photos here) had to be made, which in the tiny space took a whole days labour to get right. you could go the easier option of the Hyperflow B4 TMIC, but it is not as large (particularly in terms of depth which counts for a lot).

thanks for the pics. i had a look at my foz XT which apparently have the same mounting points as the late GD. definitely different.

looks like i will require custom made mountings.... how much did it cost you and who did you get to do it?

Its pretty simple. If you have front mount you have no cooling issues. If you have top mount then you need water injection to make the same horsepower and stay at similar temps... water injection and top mount is almost always going to be as good as front mount in cooling except in very high temps/hp. Thats my 2c.
