Default Clutch pedal wont spring back!

'Sup

Driving back from a trip into town this arvo and the clutch pedal ceased to return to it's resting position, it only comes back about ~10mm now or so it feels like. Still able to shift gears by pressing hard into the floor and shifting but have to flick the pedal back up with my foot. Stopped by Peel Subaru on the way home and left the car there, they'll call me in the morning with a verdict and cost. While I'm at it the car is getting a service as well hope the clutch problem isn't a major/expensive one!

Anybody know a common reason why the clutch pedal would suddenly stop springing back like this? Mate suggested that the clutch fluid reservoir has sprung a leak so there's no pressure, but I don't know if that makes any sense because there's a return spring for the clutch pedal anyway.

Cheers, Lance

Hydraulic hose that goes from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder will be split. Its a 35-40 dollar part from memory and prolly an hour to fit.

Definitely a leak in the clutch hydraulics.

Cheers fellas, didn't even think of a busted hose!

Just had a look down the driveway and there's a few tiny blue drops of what is probably clutch fluid.

had a similair problem on my forester a while ago - turned out to be heaps of air in the system, hence it not returning to it's original place.

was a leak underneath the rubber boot which is on the slave cylinder
