Default Turbo and Intercooler upgrade

Looking to upgrade the turbo and tmic on my 99 wrx
ive been looking at either a vf28 or vf35
but just after some recommendations from people?
wanna get more power out of it, but dont want to have too much lag.

Also have decided on a gd sti top mount, but just curious as to how people go about fitting them? as i know they tend to drop on one side because of the brackets, is there a diy for this?
any help appreciated, current mods are listed in my sig

VF35 and 28 are great turbos. Alot go with the roller bearing vf34s however. With the tmic mounting. Alot just make there own brakets. I did. Or see if you can buy the stock sti brakets as well and mount them to your car.

you will also need to chop down your clutch fluid reservoir or fit a later model remote unit, you will also need a longer silicon elbow as the gc8 throttle body is longer so your tmic will be closer to the firewall

Ive driven a 98 with a vf34, and was too laggy for my liking
thats why im opting for either the 28 or the 35
the passenger side stock bracket is different and doesnt fit on the manifold, ive already investigated that, with your own brackets, did you modify the original ones or start from scratch?
thanks for that strubaru, i wasnt aware of those 2 things.
can anyone have a guess at what sort of power increase ill be expecting if i did these changes?

vf34 isnt to laggy. im running a vf34 with a P20 housing and a fmic. full boost is at 4100rpm. Its a great turbo upgrade though from the td04.

My advice would be either a vf34/35 and a gd sti tmic, maybe larger injectors.

happy times

P18 compared to p16 though? I thought the larger rear housing of the vf34 would make it slightly laggier.

sorry i did mean vf35, in the ihi turbo guide on here, it says that its only roughly 500rpm laggier than the td04l, same with the vf28
and it uses a p15 housing

Well I've got 34/p18, gd sti tmic, power fc, un-equal length headers, silicon intake, cai and I got 267hp 366nm at bout 20/21psi and n hits around 4000rpm it's rather nice to drive And won't really need new injectors at this stage either
