Default timing belt service - do I need to 90k ks

In the Book it says major service needs to do the timing belt.

I was going to do this myself - but the priced the belt up and it comes in 2 kits - belt and seals etc one with hydraulic tensioners, and one without.

without tensioners ~$350 - with $750.

one - is it essential to do the timing belt and all seals etc in a my05 done ~86k ks?

two - do i need to spend another few hundred bucks on the hydraulic tensioners?

Mine has just clicked 82k, and I had the belts and all done, BUT mine is an MY00 and therefore nearly 10 years old.

I think the tensioners are not scheduled until the 200K service, but its peace of mind if you want to do it anyway.

Also, do the water pump while you are there. Its only an extra $120 or so and its definitely a good idea.

Just inspect the seals and tensioner once you have them off, if the tensioner is leaking oil, or has signs of knocking on, then replace it.
if the seals have signs of leaking then replace them aswell...
although it is peace of mind to do them all at once

You should check for faulty components (seals bearings guides) when you remove the belt and there is a procedure for checking the tensioner, but all should be fine at 90k.
I didnt do my water pump because it felt as good as new and I dont have a problem in doing it later on.
you should be able to source a cheaper genuine belt too, mine was only $197.95 + gst.
