Any of the guys at Race Torque IMHO are awesome. Stuck a VF30 on the Forester and it now runs awesome, with minor lag. Consider a VF30 perhaps?

Had the VF30 on the auto. VF28 was better

Everyone has an opinion of which workshop. Suggest you give each a visit and then see how they are to deal with just with the Q and A.

Any workshop can get you the above mention turbos.

Cheap install doesn't always equal quality. Don't skimp on a new turbo gasket.

Anywhere around $200-300 for install and around $1400 for a new turbo is about right.
Second hand VF35 can be had for around 700-800 depending on ks. VF34 is around 800-900 2nd hand

I'm running on VF22 with stock IC. 1.3 bar, man ... can't feel the G force till the 3500 region. VF34 gives great mid to high end power.

or get a supercharger to run in tandem
changing to a smaller housing on the VF34 gives you the added benifit of the rollerbearing centre cartridge, meaning it will spool even earlier then a VF35.

either way, a fmic on the auto is gonna be a lag hole, not to mention your torque convertor is gonna be all screwed up.
Spoke to Steve @ MMS today and he reckoned changing the housing would make no difference in his words "what a crock'a shit", so upside - CHEAPER!! Still gotta decide whether to fit the turbo now or save more towards autronics as well.

Thanks for all your help ppls

^^^^^ Fark he (SW at MMS) says some dumb things sometimes. Has really put me off using them. Have had him try and convince me of a couple of things that simply weren't true. They still seem to do good work though judging by the Eamon beast.

Changed housings will definately make a noticeable difference.

No one should go solely on anyone's word. Learn how the piece of equipment works and then consider the advice.

Dropping down a housing size is like dropping down a garden hose size etc. Physically speaking, there's going to be more water pressure through the smaller sized hose... however if the flow rate increases (tap is turned on more), then you'd do better to upgrade to a larger hose to benefit from the larger volume of water etc. It's exactly the same with small/ large turbos. The larger the exhaust housing, the longer it will take to reach efficiency, but when it does it will flow more than a smaller housing that will usually become restrictive at similar rpm. However, due to exhaust gasses running through a smaller area/ housing, will spool up the blades a lot faster and so on.

The basic idea above could never be found to be "a crock of shit", because it is measurable and can be tested over and over with the same results. Something I wish could apply to differing mechanical advice throughout the metro area!
