Yeah, the bonnet rod jumps out of it's clip into the belts when you get air too. I used to cable tie it but I've since removed the rod completely and have a single gas strut on the passsenger side so I have good access to the turbo, exhaust and air cleaner areas. Ally bonnet only needs one strut.

Stace got a set from me for his GC8. Yet to get pics from him off them fitted as I lost the ones I had. 90% certain I can source ones to suit GD also.
