new 207, service heads, done. But will cost a bit more than 5k

What are your goals for the car? What power levels are you chasing?
All these questions and more will need to be answered in order for proper advice to be given.

You won't be able to build a 2.2 stroker for 5k, in fact that won't even get you a stroker kit, let alone the labour to build it etc.

^^

whs + Its not like you can get any guarantee on am a used import motor.

Save a bit more and either rebuild a reliable EJ207 with local parts or get a motor from a local importer with some form of guarantee.

Sounds like you're either hearing stories or wanting some Wizard to grant you cheap bolt on power (only wish this was possible).

Drive in Drive out 207 swap is ~7k. Remember if you do an engine swap you still need labour to put it in and out. By the time you do it.......refer to what V3_RA said above.

key word = build!
Im sure you can buy an already built/used motor for 5k, but as far as buying a 'decent' kit and the building it, 5k will not cut it!

Zing, plus one for catching me out when I'm not looking... you sly fox you! In that case, no, you won't be able to build one for that kind of money.

firstly a 2000 STI engine is version 6.

EJ207 non sti = wrong!

'207's are STI
