sorry to bring this post up

I pulled down a 257 STI motor the other day. There was only 2 oil holes at the oil pump end of the crank as one would find in any 2ltr banger. Not like the 207 that has 4 oil feed holes. Motor showed signs of lack of oil at the bearings.

Is it the EJ257 (sodium filled valves) we get in AUS or the EJ255?

Andrew, is your post in reference to seagulls findings? or are you asking in relation to what motor variants AUS gets?

EJ**7 = sti
EJ**5 = wrx (and your liberty)

Rule applies to both 2.0L and 2.5L versions.

Was just a "general" question about the AUS variant - however, my knowledge takes another step forward.

So that's why some source the EJ**7 heads off an Sti - to get the better valves?

All the EJ255 vs. EJ257 info you could poke a stick at here:

I'm pretty sure all turbo (205, 255, 207, 257) EJ series engines have sodium filled exhaust valves.
