Engine diagnosis & possible rebuild
Anyone have any suggestions / recommendations of where I can take my engine to get diagnosed and repaired/rebuilt that won't take ages to be able to look at it and then even longer to actually get the work done?
In a perfect world, I'd like to be able to take it to someone who can check out what failed, get the parts needed in and then do the work and I'm away and driving again, all without big blocks of time in between each stage spent waiting while nothing gets done, but from what I've read of others experiences the line from the Castle springs into mind "Tell him he's dreamin" - maybe I'm being too cynical so if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be most appreciative.

I think 'dreamin' applies here. Good work is in demand, the wait is innevitable! buying that cosworth crate motor might be your quickest route to being back on the road doooo itttttt!

Well at least I've still got my white wrx to use in the meantime but still, with the amount of money and parts that's gone into my engine you'd think it'd be able to handle 4500rpm at 2bar without something giving way like it has done. I just want to find out what the hell went wrong but the bolt on the camshaft sprocket is determined to make sure that never happens. Always something.......

I'd be taking it back to ASG who built it first. As they would know what was done and what wasn't done to the motor.

Yeah that would be my preferred option but to do that would mean not having the car back on the road for another 6 months. I'll go have a chat to Steve at MMS today and see what he can do, although I have already put some feelers out about getting the cash together for the Cosworth crate motor for sale at MMS also so I'll see what happens.

I'd personally be taking it back to the original engine builders to ascertain what went wrong before giving it to someone else to find out.
