I dont know if anything extra has been done to MMS's cosworth CS600x, or how much freight is to get one here, but considering the dollar, have a look at these.

Actually, I didn't even know MMS was a paying vendor on this site...

BTW...Steve won't be at work for a while so you'll need to chat to Graham.

I just want to find out what the hell went wrong but the bolt on the camshaft sprocket is determined to make sure that never happens. Always something.......

Darren weld the tapered end of a wheel nut to the camshaft bolt and undo it with a rattle gun.

+1 for Sean and Nick as ASG. Original Builders and Cosworth WA distributors.

It sounds like your 80% there with pulling the motor down. I mean it's out of the car already and only a few bolts away from getting the heads off. Surely with all the effort you've put in so far you'd be itching to see what's gone wrong with your own eyes.

I reckon persist with the DIY to the stage where you take the heads off to look at the gaskets and deck surfaces. Hopefully then you can see what caused the failure and do a bit more research from there on how to prevent it from happening in the future.

As for the rebuilding part, ASG were the original builders. They should know what clearances they used last time and may be able to make suggestions for the future. But I can see how the turn around time is a bit frustrating.

Good luck with it!

Tried that but my welder combined with the shit gasless flux-ridden wire combined with my lack of welding skills just ended up with a whole bunch of blocked up contact tips and bugger all weld on the actual bolt. So I've gone the brutal approach as suggested on NASIOC and drilled out the bolt (very carefully might I add) and used a screw/bolt remover and the thing still won't move. What the hell do they do these things up with for crying out loud?

Yeah you're damn right I'm itching to see what's gone wrong, and being so close to getting the heads off and being stuck by 2 bolts does my head in. If someone wants to volunteer and get these bloody things out for me I'll gladly pay you with whatever currency you prefer (alcohol, money, women, goats etc).

The good news is that my trusty old white WRX is up and running and is happy as ever to finally be getting some attention again. Now I remember why I liked that car so much, so much quicker than the black one down low in the RPM range and I haven't even got the NOS connected (anymore).

But I have to get the black one sorted ASAP as I'm already harbouring thoughts of pulling bits off the black one and putting them on the white one.

Just drill the head completely off the bolt, only deep enough to get the cam sprocket off.

then worry about getting the rest of the bolt out of the cam later. (I can help with this if needed.)
