Smile BRAKES cutting out...full lock, please help

Hey

Well today, as i was normally driving, i was in the process of making an abrupt U-Turn, around a "island" which was sharp enough for the tires to squeal a bit. Not 4 wheel drifting speed, but maybe 40km/h, i had the steering full lock to the right, and because i didnt turn soon enough, i was not going to clear a driveway curb. I then hit the brakes, again, not emergency stopping hard, and all i heard was a large CLUNK and the brakes didn't even engage...i had the clutch in....but have no idea why?? It felt like the breaks just cut out for some reason....any ideas as to the fault, car is in goo nic, recently had 100,000km service only 10,000 kms ago....

Any help is much appreciated

Cheers

Brett
