Default Will Radar detectors from Ebay work?

Hey everyone,

I am currently on a hunt for a new radar detector and I have found some Beltronics STIs on ebay for about $400AUD shipped at my door which is way cheaper than any where else. So I was wondering if detectors from Ebay USA will work in WA before I put my money down. I have search for past post but had no luck on this topic. Thanks guys in advance

They are all exactly the same units.

Before buying, I'd get in contact with Jeremy (Jezzamcbezza) on here and see what deal he can do.

Valentine is the only decent protection against the new Poliscans.

The only reason to get a BEL is they are invisible to radar detector detectors.

+1 for contacting Jeremy RE any radar detector.

Just remember there is no warranty with ebay bought Beltronics detectors & they all suffer the 'Selfcal error' after a year or two, requiring a reflash (that only neltronics can do apparently).

Buying one for $400 AUD delivered is below MAP + being sold on eBay it won't be covered under warranty. So you may save yourself a couple of hundred, but just pray it never requires servicing.

Agree with above though, unless you're planning on driving interstate with it, the V1 shits all over the Bel STI

And just in case anyone wants to chime in and refer to the "V1 versus Bel STi" report from Craig Peterson from radartest.com, or the "V1 versus Pro78 article" (also by Craig Peterson) that is referenced by radars.com.au - just keep in mind that Craig Peterson is a PAID CONSULTANT by Beltronics, and after a huge fight with Mike Valentine over a decade ago, he never praised the Valentine One (V1) in his articles and tests.

He also tried to sabotage the Guy's of Lidar test one year: http://www.guysoflidar.com/march-2007/sabotage.html

Unfortunately the average consumer doesn't know all (this type of) "insider info" in the radar detector market. It was one of the primary reasons I built the delonixradar site many years ago - to educate consumers and [try] to put and end to the BS - particularly in AU (there's still soooo much BS unfortunately)

I'll answer - Valentine 1.

Best laser detector and best multinova (Ka band) detector and most sensitive K band detector around. Once programmed for WA conditions it is simply brilliant.

The arrows have saved me more than once with gauntlet speed traps as you know where the radar is coming from.

A gauntlet speed trap is where they place a decoy cop on the road aprox 200-500 meters in front of the "real" highway pursuit car trapping vehicles. You pass one police vehicle and think your safe only to be caught by the one beyond.

Hows the false warnings with the V1?

That's my pet hate and why I like the gps function on my 9500ix.

GPS lockout + V1 would be win!
