Just checked the battery number on my old one and it says 55D23L and the AC Delco vehicle fitment PDF says that number is for a Liberty GT and a WRX/STi is the 55B24L, so maybe it doesn't have the correct battery in there to start with???
Anyone know what number their STD STi (01-07) battery is could you please post it up.

been running yellowtops for years without any dramas. I use a D32 on the daily but they do like to be treated nicely with a trickle charge from time to time. I have the typhoon drip fed on a c-tek7000 to extend life as much as possible especially when they are super expensive D31's.

I've been using an Optima red top for a couple of years now. Left it for a few months while I rebuilt a motor then accidentally left the alternator lead disconnected on startup. Kicked over like new. Ran it for a couple of hours problem solving things. Been running fine since.
Can't fault it and it runs a couple of amplifiers as well. 800CCA ftw. Yet to see how long it lasts, but as it stands I'd buy again.

I think the fact that the first battery lasted 5 years should give you a clue on what to replace it with.

If I'm going to be spending near $150-200 for another Panasonic I'd rather spend a bit more and get something different and get a sealed battery.
Oh an its only 4yrs and 10mths, that's if the battery is indeed the original one the car came with, if not then it'll be just under 3yrs old. I'm not even sure its the correct battery for the car after checking the vehicle fitment chart.as the numbers are different to what's in there ???

I've had an Optima yellow top in my wrx for a good 6 years now... never missed a beat and perfect if you're FIFO like I was and regularly left it three weeks in storage without a charger.

I just put an optima yellow top in my WRP10, after the gearbox company who did my rebuild totally killed my previous battery apparently they didn't think to give it a run in the 3 weeks it was sat in their workshop!

Just going on the code of 55B24L that came up for STi's on the fitment chart, doesnt really matter as it did the job when the D23 was in there before.
