Changing diff ratios
Just wondering what needs to be changed and roughly how much for the parts in order to get a shorter final drive ratio? Basically i want faster off the line take-off and don't mind losing some top end speed in order to make it happen.
(And yeah i know the question has probably been asked a hundred times before and probably by me as well but i'm doing this on my phone and it's easier to ask the question than try and search for it so i do apologise in advance)

It is possible to buy a 4.44 final drive kit for the 6 speed gearboxes. And 4.44 R180 rear diffs are easy to get.
Also, the 4.44 final drive kit will also need 1:1 transfer gears. If you have 1:1.1 transfer gears now you will need change them too. This is just for the 6 speed final drive change: JDM Japanese Auto Parts specialists | japanparts.com

on a 5 speed, change front and rear crown wheel and pinions
3.9, 4.11, 4.44 available for your 6 speed, I don't know if anything else is available other than 3.9?

ah ok, what mr2 said. fuck 4.44 would be ridiculously short in your car with that turbo

I used the US ratios, but not as crazy short as I expected.

ADM transfer ratio is 1:1.1 so a transfer gear change would be nessecary

Thanks for the info guys, sorry it's taken me so long to reply back, have just got Black Budgie back on the road.
Those numbers aren't as short as I would have thought actually so it still should remain quite driveable. I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open for any gear-sets etc that might happen to present themselves in the near future. Until then though, she's plenty quick enough to keep me entertained at least for the near future anyway

Yeah for sure, still plenty more avcs goodness to be unlocked from her, as well as top end fuel and timing tuning to be done. I'm trying to get my hands on a decent set of knock ears to help make things a bit safer. You'll have to give me a yell and let me know when you have some free time.
