Just crazy.

I've heard the B4 Libs use the same front o2 sensor as the wrx of the same year. Wonder if there are any second hand ones around.

Hmmm there's something wrong with this logic..

1. 99% sure of the problem.
2. Not willing to spend $460 on a known part that will work and is important to fuel calculation, potentially lunching an engine worth $7K to replace.
3. Willing to go second hand and maybe facing the problem again or visiting the second point above due to incorrect fuel calculation and leaning out.

I'm a tightarse at the best of times, something as important as fuel sensors, MAF sensors, timing belts are worth the genuine cost.

Kinda like saying.. i don't want aids but i like riding bareback, sure i might get way with it this time.. but one day.. pow.. AIDS!

My engine light has come on for the second time now in only 3-4 months of owning the car. The first time it went out about an hour later and never came back - until this morning. My question is - is it normal for the light on the "Cruise" button to flash as well while the engine light is glowing on the dash? It did this the first time too.

Yep it is normal.

When your check engine light comes on in a Subaru, it disables the cruise control (thus why it is flashing). Best to have the code checked out with a scan tool to figure out why it keeps doing it. The codes will be stored in the ECU.

The CEL can range from single to multiple sensors reporting issues with MAF, Oxygen Sensors, Etc. Ranging from Miss firing, to a loose gas cap, condensation, loose connector on a sensor, etc.. etc..

Cool bananas. Where do I start? I see there's a squillion and one sensors that could be triggering the light, but who/where's a good person/place to diagnose it?

Anywhere with an OBD-II Scan Tool. If you are North (Ellenbrook) I can have a look for you. Otherwise check out the workshop thread & have someone have a look & provide the feedback to you as to the possible fault.

Fingers crossed its nothing terribly gone wrong.

I'm in Noranda (not too far from Ellenbrook). When's a good time?
