Jacking STi onto Jack Stands?
What is best way to jack up the car with a trolley jack to suspend the car on jack stands? I assume you can jack up the rear using the rear diff? Can the same be done at the front using the sump, or somewhere else at the front? I suppose I didn’t want to use each side behind the front wheels because it’s hard to fit a jack stand when you have a trolley jack in the way and it can get a bit unstable….. Thanks for your help. |

I jack mine behind the front wheels, you can still get a stand under there aswell.

Rear....diff
Front.....NOT the sump....use the crossmember behind Position the stands at members near the standard jacking points...be careful not to use the floor.

I try and avoid the factory jacking points at all times.. they're designed for a scissor jack, not a flat hydraulic jack pad.
For a hydraulic jack: Rear - Lift up from the bottom of the diff. Front - metal crossmember behind the sump, or if your car is too low, jack up from the tow hooks.. these are super strong! Put your jack stands under the A-arms front and rear, or the front crossmember bolts and rear diff outer mount bolts for an alternative spot if you're working on the suspension. Drop the weight onto the jack stands, but not all of the weight.. keep the jack under the car for extra support. Has always worked for me |

cool pic! just watch the rear diff as you jack it up. can sometimes slip sideways a bit if its not in the centre
