Glad it worked out. You could try SCA or the likes, (maybe someone even has one on here to borrow) for a thin extendable magnet. It looks like a old school car aeriel, with a magnet on the end.

You should be able to get it out with one of these. I would guess it would be cheaper than a new nut. Plus its a lot more fun trying to get it back

Got the nut. Car is running better now that exhaust is sealed properly, but still not boosting properly.

TD04 is from an 07 WRX, which would boost to 13.5psi ... my00 wrx boosts to 14.5psi.
Will I need to modify the wastegate to get things boosting properly?

Fairly sure all vacuum lines etc are ok, and it will boost over 11psi, just not up to 15-17 before, tuned on unichip.

Thinking of taking into Tim Slako for a look....

The restrictor pill may be a different size in the '07 model. I'm not sure though.
The turbo would be more or less identical.
Try swapping the wastegate hoses from your old turbo to your new one.
FYI, 07 boost pressure is more like 12.5, and my00 is about 13.5, standard

how do you find the unichip, any problems?

i can get a uni chip without the boost module, but have a ebc, do you know if i would still require the boost module?

also i heard that slako only road tunes without dyno as i have heard

did you end up installing headers? or find a diy on it?

Still using the restrictor pill and vacuum lines from stock setup. When I was swapping out the turbo, one of the vacuum lines to the boost solenoid snapped, I replaced with some generic vacuum line - perhaps this is leaking and needs to be clamped?

No problems with the unichip actually, car has been fairly reliable for about 60 000km since I've had it. Took the car on a trip to Monkey Mia and back (back when it had stock struts in it) and no problems.

Not sure if you require the boost module, but I think it is a more reliable way of adjusting boost levels etc. Boost controllers have a pretty bad rep.

& yes, Tim Slako road tuned, and it makes sense to road tune IMO, as road conditions and car behaviour cannot be properly replicated on a dyno.

No headers yet, thought I'd hold off, as I am still deciding on the twinscroll route.

^ thanks for info

boost module yes for boost and also the air/fuel ratio i think

twinscroll imo a lot of money and work for just that little bit extra. as people have mentioned would't feel more punch than a vf34 however boost comes on earlier.

im in the market for elh but no luck finding any except ultrex

what km do you get from a tank?
