Oh, and the previous owner according to the papers was Marcel Welschbillig - so not sure if it was REXILLA'S old car ??

Marcel Welschbillig.... That is a person and name I've not seen in a long time!

Great guy, the car should have evidence of hand controls fitted as Marcel didn't have use of his legs.

Geez he was good with the hand controls too.. beat me many a skid pan in his old bug eye!

AAAAhhhhh - that would explain the wire & box thingy that hangs down from the base of the steering wheel column. We always wondered what the fuck that was!!

He did all the mods, and he did it with style to my noob mind. He built a nice car.

The transfer clutch is what provides torque to the rear wheels in auto Subarus, similar to the centre diff on a manual.
If the auto fluid is very dirty, or the clutch and basket are worn, it will not disengage properly or not react properly and will bind,
This may be your issue, its called 'tight corner braking' and feel like everything binds up, then lets go, with associated clunking.
The auto has its own seperate control unit, not controlled by the Motec, although it does take inputs from the ECU

STiNC said he will drain the power fluid tomorrow after the cruise. He just had a look at the fluid and said that it looks almost clear. That does not sound like a good thing. I thought it was meant to be red?

Most DEXRON 3 PS and autotrans fluids are red.
However there are a lot of alternatives on the market atm that aren't. They usually contain additives like stopleak etc.
